9" X 12"
Watercolor on aquabord, 2" depth, black varnished sides
Part of a series of paintings at the AMP Gallery, 454 Broadway Street, Saratoga Springs, NY, this painting was from a photo I had taken of a cow in Berlin, Ohio in the heart of Amish country. Like the Amish who are shy of photography, this cow was peeking out from behind a post. Painting this was a bit different from painting on watercolor paper because of the hard clay surface. The colors are bolder and the surface can be scratched into. You can see this in the barbed wire fence and the tuft of hair on the cows head.
